What we have been doing

This weekend the Project Health Team visited the Body Power Show at the Birmingham NEC. A good opportunity to see what’s new, up and coming and tried and tested in the fitness industry from supplements to physio therapy gadgets to fitness wear. What we are eating

Currently we cannot get enough of these tasty little treats by Vegan and Ultra Runner Legend Scott Jurek. Easy to make and to store they pack quite a punch with a touch of heat and caffeine from the chilli flakes to the cacao nibs. Add a scoop of protein powder just to finish off the perfect snack. Plus it is easy on the digestive system, a must for those who eat and train.

0.50 cups almonds
0.5 tsp cinnamon
0.5 tsp sea salt
0.5 tsp vanilla extract
0.5 cup organic cacao nibs
0.25 tsp dried chilli flakes
8 dates, stone out

0.5 tbsp  organic coconut oil
1 tbsp organic cacao powder (unsweetened)

What we have been trialling

CBD Oil has been making headlines over the last couple of years with its claims pf helping with anxiety, arthritis, sleep issues, reduction of cortisol i.e. stress levels to name but a few! However, the main controversy surrounding CBD oil has been the amount of THC it contains. THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) is one of the main psychoactive component of cannabis and detectable on drug tests undertaken by athletes. In the UK it is legal to sell or buy CBD oil as long as the THC level is 0.2% or less. So, whilst CBD Oil is said to help with muscoskeletal pain, reduces inflammation, promotes a faster recovery time and is great for your immune system, many athletes do not touch it for fear of stigma or misunderstood exposure to drugs. Now however there are some oils on the market that are 100% THC free. One of which is marketed by www.cbdasylum.com. Watch this space as @samantha.blackwell.522 takes the oil for a test run!
